Watford proved clinical last weekend, beating Everton 1-0. Victory
against West Brom – a side now with one foot through the relegation
trapdoor – would represent Watford’s first completion of three
successive home wins in the Premier League since April 2017.
For West Brom, the situation is now desperate, as the Baggies are seven
points adrift of safety with ten games remaining. Though proven to be a
survivable situation by relegation-threatened teams in the past, they
cannot realistically afford to lose more than three matches between now
The H2H series, at least, makes good reading for any West Brom fan. The
Baggies have won 18 of the 40 meetings to date, but lost 2-0 on their
last visit to Vicarage Road back in April 2017.
Watford manager Javi Gracia has not identified any particular target
where points are concerned, but he believes his squad have the power to
consistently deliver at home, stating: “When we play at home we feel the
backing of our supporters. We play with another man at home.”
Victory today for Watford would represent the completion of three
consecutive home wins for the first time since April 2017.
Players to watch: Troy Deeney is back amongst the goals for Watford,
having scored the winner against Everton last weekend to take his tally
to two strikes in three games after a relatively ‘dry January’.
For the visitors, Chris Brunt is known as a dead ball specialist, but he
has been under-used recently, leading him to criticise the management
and his teammates. His pass completion rate currently stands at 68%.
Stat attack: West Brom are reliant on defensive discipline to survive,
but they are without a clean sheet in four matches against Watford.
Eleven out of West Brom’s last 12 matches have seen the Baggies fail to
keep a clean sheet and/or concede a losing goal in the first half.
Buoyed by a hard-fought 1-0 win over Everton, Watford take on West
Bromwich Albion at their Vicarage Road Stadium on Matchday 29. The
Hornets aim to retain their spot in top ten and they are seen as hot
favourites to win Saturdays football match against the rock-bottom side.
The Baggies continue to struggle in the English top flight, with the
team extending their losing run to four games at the weekend. WBA
suffered a heart-breaking 2-1 loss to Huddersfield Town in the
relegation-six pointer, meaning that they are low on confidence ahead of
the trip to Watford. Javi Gracias men are eyeing their third consecutive
win at home in the Premier League and seeing that they outclassed
Chelsea in front of home fans earlier in February, we predict that the
Hornets are going to give fans yet another reason for celebration this
weekend. Experienced attacker Troy Deeney, who scored the winner against
Everton, will be one of the men to watch in the home team.
