Scunthorpe pair Lee Novak and Ivan Toney could return to contention for
the home game against Oldham.
Strikers Novak and Toney (groin), on loan from Newcastle, missed last
weeks draw at Bristol Rovers but both hope to feature in the squad.
Defenders Marnick Vermijl and Jordan Clarke (both hamstring) are making
good progress, but will not be involved at the weekend.
Striker Jonathon Margetts has had a major setback in his recovery from
knee surgery after being forced to have a second operation.
Oldham midfielder Patrick McEleney is hoping to make his debut for the
club after recovering from a thigh injury. McEleney joined the Latics
from Irish side Dundalk in January, but has had to wait for his first
Defender Wilfried Moimbe is back in contention after missing the home
win against MK Dons last time out due to a one-game ban. The Latics
could also be boosted by the return of defender Rob Hunt, who is rated
as 50/50 after being sidelined since early January with a hamstring
injury, but striker Eoin Doyle remains unavailable.
Scunthorpe have won their last two League One meetings with Oldham; they
havent beaten them on three straight occasions in the Football League
since a run of four in December 1969.
Oldhams 1-0 loss in their last visit to the Iron in November 2016 was
their first in six trips there in all competitions (W3 D2).
Scunthorpe have scored in each of their last 13 home league games; their
longest scoring streak at home since October 2013 (15 games in a row).
Oldham have picked up more points in their last three games (7 – W2 D1),
than in their previous 11 (6 – W1 D3 L7).
Duckens Nazon has scored two goals in his first four league appearances
for Oldham, netting a brace against League One leaders Blackburn in his
last away game for the club.
